On 26.04.2015 was held the official opening of the newly constructed Waste Water Treatment Plant and the W&S projects implemented under the project "Construction, reconstruction and modernization of the sewerage system, WWTP and the water supply system of the town of Svilengrad“, funded under the OP Environment 2007 -2013.
The ribbon was cut by the Minister of Environment and Water - Ivelina Vasileva and the Mayor of the town - Eng. Georgi Manolov. The site was consecrated by the Vicar, Father Constantine. Other official guests were the Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, the Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski, the Head of the State Fund "Agriculture" Rumen Porozhanov, the Governor Dobri Belivanov, MPs, mayors, business representatives.
On the construction of the waste water treatment plant works the consortium BIO CONSTRUCTION ENEMONA - Sofia, consisting of the companies Raicommerce Construction EAD, Enemona AD and Biogest International LTD.
Since the beginning of the project, which was started on 27.11.2012, by now were realized large-scale construction and repair works and have already been built: the wastewater treatment plant of Svilengrad, the W & S network was reconstructed in the quarter “Izgrev”, the water supply network was renovated and a new sewerage network was constructed in the residential districts of Gebran and Cap. Petko Voivoda. The sewage pumping stations on the left and right bank of the Maritsa River were reconstructed and modernized. An inlet collector at the left and right bank of the Maritsa River and an outlet collector from the wastewater treatment plant and a service road were completed.
The total cost of the project is BGN 48,132,968.14. The gratuitous aid obtained is BGN 46,463,012.45, co-financing was provided by the EU Cohesion Fund – 37,170,409.96, and national co-financing at BGN 9,292,602.49. The Svilengrad Municipality took part with BGN 1,669,955.69 of its own funds. The project duration was 30 months.
